Alex Verdugo is a Mexican-American professional baseball player who currently plays as an outfielder for the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on May 15, 1996, in Tucson, Arizona, but his father is Mexican, enabling him to play for the Mexican national team.
Verdugo was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second round of the 2014 MLB draft and made his MLB debut with them on September 1, 2017. He played for the Dodgers for three seasons before being traded to the Red Sox in February 2020 as part of a three-team deal.
Verdugo is considered an emerging talent in MLB, known for his excellent hitting and fielding abilities. He has also represented Mexico in international baseball competitions. In 2017, he played in the World Baseball Classic, helping Mexico advance to the second round of the tournament. Moreover, in 2019, he won a gold medal in the Pan American Games, playing for the Mexican national team.
